Hey Reader, I was at a retreat center with some clients the other week. We were doing deep work about growing in our respective fields (fitting considering the story I'm about to tell, come to think of it 🤔). When we took a break, I decided to get outside and move my body by taking a little walk. I saw water in the distance, and walked down to the edge of what happened to be the Mississippi. As I got closer to the water, I noticed a lot of the foliage, grass and weeds were darkened and crunchy, almost like they'd been burned. But they hadn't been burned. It was like it had all just died out. Just a vast, lifeless area. As I stood there pondering why it was like that, I saw these sparse little flowers. Persisting through this deadened area. Not a lot. Just a few here and there. And I was struck that that’s the environment they’d decided to thrive in. A seemingly barren, unwelcoming place, just a few yards from spots that looked to be much more hospitable. Yet there they were, blooming amongst the deadened patches. Maybe, for some reason, that environment held exactly what they needed to thrive? A couple good reminders from this:
I’m really glad I took that walk down to the water, and opened my eyes to the lessons around me. It’s a privilege to do life together. Hope you are blessed. Dawn Whenever you're ready, there are 4 ways I can help you:

Hey Reader, wanna know something that makes my stomach turn? When people say, "You're just so busy..." or "I know how busy you are..." It always makes me think, "Oh, man, have I made you feel that way?" or "Did it take too long for you to get on my calendar?" or "Are you just following my antics on social media?" 😂 I think it makes my stomach turn because I never want anyone to think that my life is too full/busy for the things that are important. So I'm coming to you today to say that... 1)...
Hey Reader, it's October! Let's talk seasons. What I love about the word 'seasons' is, it makes it feel like there's an end to a time I'm walking through. ALL seasons have an end. In the Spring... We enjoy the warming temps, rapid growth, and budding leaves and flowers. (But maybe you don't look forward to the storms it also brings...or the allergies.) Then Spring comes to an end, and we're in Summer. Summer brings beautiful warm days and baseball. (But later we have to fight to keep...
Reader, not sure if you're a driver (I am), but hopefully this'll still resonate with you regardless. Drivers tend to drive toward making stuff happen. Hard. But one the things us drivers don't drive super fierce toward? REST. And as a driver, let it be said: This isn't be a topic I've loved in the past. But I'm learning to embrace it. So. One of the challenges I have (and the thing I also want you to think through today) is resting. Not only resting FROM our work, but also resting IN our...
