Does everything feel messy? 🤝 Do Life Together

Reader, I got to hear from an incredible speaker in the last week or so, named Kindra Hall.

One of the things she said is,

"It's not the magnitude of your story, it's that you tell it."

So I'm telling my story today in case it encourages somebody else.

In March of 2022, I had believed a story for a really long time that I was never going to be able to release my extra weight.

...And not just the visible weight on my body, but the weight in my mind, and in my daily choices and actions.

But like so many stories your mind tells you, it was a lie.

Because at this age and stage of life, I've been living 67 pounds released. At times it's been even more...and I'm headed there again.

But backsliding isn't the end of the world. In fact, this morning I was carrying two 25lb weights across the gym to put back on the rack and thought, "This is a LOT of weight."

Then it occurred to me, I used to carry even more than that around on my body. (Not to mention my mind.) It made me so grateful for having embarked on this journey, no matter how imperfect.

So I'm sharing this story because one of the other things Kindra reminded us is that,

"The middle is messy."

And when we get to the messy middle, we need to remind ourselves that this is the middle of the story.

There are all kinds of options here. All kinds of opportunities of where to go.

So I don't know if you're in a messy middle right now, but I just wanted to remind you of that today.

It might not have anything to do with your weight. It could have to do with your professional life or your family life, or a bajillion other things.

Two other reminders...

1) It's not the magnitude of your story.

Don't compare your story to someone else's to decide if it should be told.

Just tell the story.

...Even if you only tell one or two people.

...Or the Lord breaks your heart for somebody you're standing in front of, and you decide you need to tell them your story.

There's a reason you went through what you went through. So share it. Share your story.

2) The most important stories you ever tell, are the ones you tell yourself.

So remember that today as you're telling yourself stories.

Because we're constantly telling ourselves stories, and sometimes...? They're not the truth.

Love doing life with you,

Dawn

PS - I'd love to hear your story! No matter where you are in it...the messy middle, or the beginning, or at the pinnacle.

Remember that sometimes, especially when we're in the messy middle or coming around the last turn (and we don't know it's the last turn), it can be a lot.

So I'd love to help you celebrate your wins and make sure you're not missing them. Drop me a line!

Hey Reader, I was at a retreat center with some clients the other week. We were doing deep work about growing in our respective fields (fitting considering the story I'm about to tell, come to think of it 🤔). When we took a break, I decided to get outside and move my body by taking a little walk. I saw water in the distance, and walked down to the edge of what happened to be the Mississippi. As I got closer to the water, I noticed a lot of the foliage, grass and weeds were darkened and...

Hey Reader, wanna know something that makes my stomach turn? When people say, "You're just so busy..." or "I know how busy you are..." It always makes me think, "Oh, man, have I made you feel that way?" or "Did it take too long for you to get on my calendar?" or "Are you just following my antics on social media?" 😂 I think it makes my stomach turn because I never want anyone to think that my life is too full/busy for the things that are important. So I'm coming to you today to say that... 1)...

Hey Reader, it's October! Let's talk seasons. What I love about the word 'seasons' is, it makes it feel like there's an end to a time I'm walking through. ALL seasons have an end. In the Spring... We enjoy the warming temps, rapid growth, and budding leaves and flowers. (But maybe you don't look forward to the storms it also brings...or the allergies.) Then Spring comes to an end, and we're in Summer. Summer brings beautiful warm days and baseball. (But later we have to fight to keep...
